The proposed changes to the EMCPA are as expected. It's the regulations that will have more impact on municipalities, and I am hoping we will see those soon. I am more concerned with Schedule 2 and the proposed amendments to the Ministry of Community and Social Services Act. Read more

Municipalities will have greater accountability and increased expectations, including conforming to the new PEMSAP and addressing specifically identified hazards. This can be difficult for small municipalities where usually the Clerk or CAO (lots of times the same person) are also the CEMC. Read more

As a full-time municipal emergency manager I implore you to not let this Bill die because of a snap election call. This is too important to let it fester any longer, Ontarians need these changes to address new threats and hazards posed by both the natural and political climates.
