This notice is for informational purposes only. There is no requirement to consult on this initiative on the Environmental Registry of Ontario. Learn more about the types of notices on the registry.
Why consultation isn't required
This bulletin is for information only, as a closure plan amendment is not an instrument under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993. The Ministry of Mines is posting this bulletin to the Environmental Registry to keep the public informed of changes to mining projects in Ontario. If you wish to comment on this Closure Plan Amendment, please use the contact information for Lianne Kentish below.
Bulletin details
The proposed changes to the project are as follows:
- Wetland: Larger surface area component of the Wetland Clarification Pond will passively remove any excess suspended solids
- Intake Pond (forebay pond): To provide a measured effluent flow to a diffuser in the Nat River, a dredged pond will be equipped with an intake and pumping well to collect and pump the final effluent to the Nat River
The intent of the Wetland Clarification Pond passive treatment system will be to use the naturalized wetland basin to filter TSS from the tailings effluent inflow, so that high quality effluent can be discharged to the Nat River.
