Waste Management of Canada Corporation - Environmental Compliance Approval (waste)

This proposal is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval No. A680243 issued to Waste Management of Canada Corporation (WMCC). The Esandar Transfer facility is located on an approximately 1.69 hectares site, located at 20 Esandar Drive, Toronto, Ontario.

WMCC is proposing to build an extension on the existing transfer station to operate a Transfer Station for Recyclables (TSR) to accommodate up to 40,000 tonnes of recycling materials per year. The service area is the Province of Ontario. Currently, the waste processing and transfer building has a total area of 929 square metres (10,000 square feet).

The proposed TSR will have a total floor area of approximately 743 square metres (8,000 square feet). The recyclable material will be received from curbside collection trucks, The recyclables are transferred and compacted, inside the TSR and then shipped out in tractor trailers to a licensed facility for further processing, directly to market for reuse, to an appropriate facility for the purposes of reuse, or to an approved landfill site for final disposal.
