Sanimax ABP Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air) from Sanimax ABP Inc., a facility that processes used animal and vegetable base cooking oils and grease and is a transfer station for animal protein meal/red meat and organics, located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario.

The application includes all sources at the facility, including storage tanks; laboratory fume hoods; ancillary process and non-process combustion equipment; shipping; receiving; recycling, heating, and storing used cooking oil and grease; and transferring of animal protein meal/red meat and organics. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• 1,3-butadiene
• benzene
• chloroform
• nitrogen oxides
• vegetable oil/grease (tallow)
• odour

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air), when issued permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
