Proposal details

Bowes Road Transfer Ltd. is applying to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks to obtain an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for the use and operation of a waste disposal site (transfer and processing) with a total site area of 2.0 hectares (5.0 acres) at 523 Bowes Road, Concord (City of Vaughan), Ontario.

The company plans to receive up to 1,000 tonnes of waste per day from Institutional, Commercial and Industrial (ICI), solid non-hazardous Construction and Demolition (C&D) and residential sources. The company will utilize an existing building at the site to receive and store the waste material – all waste management activities will be conducted indoors.

The total amount of incoming waste, processed materials and residual waste stored at the site will not exceed 2,000 tonnes at any one time.

These waste materials include cardboard, brick, drywall, wood waste, steel/metal, paper, plastic, etc.. from commercial, industrial, institutional and residential sources. The incoming waste is to be processed by sorting out recyclable material, such as wood waste, paper, steel/metal, etc.. The recyclable material and residual waste will be shipped off-site.

The hours of operation for receiving and shipping waste from the site are from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. Waste may be processed at the site 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The waste disposal site is to serve the Province of Ontario.

The facility will not accept putrescible wastes, hazardous wastes, liquid wastes, asbestos, sewage or combustible gas cylinders.
