Vari-Form Manufacturing Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (Air) No. 4487-9XTJAM for Vari-Form Manufacturing Inc., an automotive parts manufacturing facility located in the Township of Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include pressure sequence hydroforming, plasma and laser cutting, manual and robotic welding of metal parts to create parts assemblies, and QA/QC testing of manufactured parts. The amendment includes renewing the Limited Operational Flexibility and adding a new exhaust serving a new weld cell. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• nitrogen oxides
• suspended particulate matter
• manganese and manganese compounds
• iron (metallic)
• ferric oxide
• chromium compounds (hexavalent forms)
• calcium

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
