Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) for the installation of an oil containment system as part of transformer replacement work serving electrical utility distribution Stations, located at 62 Elmhurst Drive, in the City of Toronto, Ontario.

The oil containment system is designed for quality and quantity control; and consists of a passive oil containment pit for the transformer. The pit liner is comprised of passive materials making up the containment system. The system allows rainwater to filter through the liner materials, but becomes impermeable when exposed to oil. A sub-drainage system below the containment system will prevent water from accumulating in the pit. This drainage system connects to a sump via a PVC pipe. The sump pump discharges via PVC pipe to a rip rap outlet located on the property.
