Proposal details

Application has been made by Dufferin Aggregates, A Division of CRH Canada Group Inc. to amend the current site plan. The change would remove a portion of the 15-metre southern setback. This change would allow for the pond to connect with the adjacent proposed below water expansion application (application #626561). Application #626561 considered the removal of the setback on Licence 608621 and anticipated the two quarries would connect to form a single pond. A decision has not yet been made on application #626561. This proposal and the expansion application are being considered by the ministry concurrently.

Public consultation opportunities

The adjacent expansion application by Dufferin Aggregates, A Division of CRH Canada Group Inc. (application #626561) considered below water extraction of the south setback within Licence No. 608621 to align with the proposed expansion site. The following were circulated and provided the opportunity to review and comment on that proposal: Ministry of Natural Resources, Region of Halton, The Town of Milton, The Town of Halton Hills, Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), Conservation Halton, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA), Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC), Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and landowners within 120m of the licence boundary. The consultation requirements under the Aggregate Resources Act for an amendment to extract below the water table within setbacks were satisfied by the consultation undertaken for application #626561.
