Decision details

Application 58-C-258161 to create a new 3.3 hectare waterfront lot to be used for resource-based recreational use, was approved by the Ministry, subject to standard conditions and additional conditions related to the following:

  • requiring the lands are used for resource-based recreational use and not permanent residential use;
  • protecting the water quality of Warnica Lake;
  • ensuring the lands can be adequately serviced with sewage and water services;
  • protecting natural heritage features, specifically significant wildlife habitat and species at risk; and
  • mitigating risks associated with wildland fire hazards. 

Related applications 58-C-258049 (ERO 025-0867) and 58-C-257936 (ERO 025-0860) were also approved subject to conditions. These applications have the effect of creating 1 new resource-based recreational lot each, for a total of 3 new lots and one retained. 

The last date to appeal this decision is March 26, 2026.

Proposal details

The purpose of this application for consent 58-C-258161 (lot 3) is to sever PIN 62327-0215, a 60 ha property, into a one of three (3) new lots for resource-based recreational use. Lot 3 currently contains a cottage and a sauna and shed and will be serviced by private servicing. The retained lot is currently vacant and will be serviced by private servicing.

Proposed severed lot 3 (S3) is proposed to be 100 metres of frontage,134 metres in depth and an area of 3.3 hectares. For information on proposed lot 1 and 2, see ERO No. 025-0860 under application 58-C-257936, and ERO No. 025-0867 under application 58-C-258049.

The subject lands are located approximately 40 kilometres north of the City of Thunder Bay settlement area and accessed by Warnica Lake Road West and Rinne Lane which are maintained by the Jacques Local Roads Board.
