Pelagg Limited - Changes to the site plan for a pit or quarry

While previous operations permitted the extraction of consolidated material from the quarry, blasting was not allowed.  To support the current application for deepening the quarry floor, hydrogeological assessment and noise assessment has been conducted.  In addition, other operational changes were requested as part of the proposed modifications. 

Application has been made by Pelagg Limited to amend the following:

• Relocation of the maximum predicted water table
• Allow blasting
• Increase final depth of extraction from 461 to 451meter above sea level (masl)
• Change final rehabilitation plan from a natural environment to agricultural use
• Changing the sequence and direction of operations
• Adding noise mitigation measures

In addition, the following changes are also proposed to the operation:

• Removal of trailer
• Add scrap and equipment storage area
• Importation of aggregate for blending and resale
• Importation of excess soil for rehabilitation

Public consultation opportunities

The proposed request for this licence is being circulated within the Ministry of Natural Resources. Additionally, notification of this application has been forwarded to the Municipality of Grey Highlands, Simcoe County, Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks, Conservation Authority, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada for comments.
