This proposal is for an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) application that has been submitted to consolidate multiple sewage systems from existing cottages currently operating under individual permits into a single comprehensive approval framework as required by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).

The subject property is owned and operated by Birchcrest Property Association and is located at 49 Lake Drive, Amabel, South Bruce Peninsula, County of Bruce, Ontario. The subject property contains numerous individual leased parcels of land, and currently contain 26 “cottage” type properties with associated sewage systems, properties but are not legally separated lots.

All sewage systems at the property will be accounted for and captured under one single property-wide ECA, with an overall rated capacity of 44,965 litres per day.

In addition, this proposal includes the replacement and installation of new sewage works on one of the leased parcels of land where the cottage is undergoing a full reconstruction with a new cottage style dwelling and new sewage system.

The proposed replacement of the on-site sewage works for this cottage will include a new septic tank, a pumping chamber and a leaching bed.
