Proposal details

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval for an existing stormwater management facility for Brookdale Treeland Nurseries Limited, located at three adjacent & connected properties: 6050 17th Sideroad, 15450 Highway 27, and 15500 Highway 27, Schomberg, Ontario.

The stormwater management facility is designed to manage roof water from the agricultural greenhouse and includes five main ponds:

  • Head Office: 3,900 cubic meters
  • SP1: 15,900 cubic meters
  • SP2: 4,600 cubic meters
  • SP3: 80 cubic meters, and
  • SP4: 490 cubic meters

The Head Office Pond overflows to Pond SP1. Pond SP1 overflows to Pond SP2. Pond SP2 overflows to a marsh area and ultimately the water reaches the municipal ditch along 17th Sideroad (Black Creek-Humber River sub-watershed).

Pond SP3 overflows to a municipal ditch on the east side of the property along Highway 27, and Pond SP4 overflows intermittently to the north to a neighbouring property through agricultural lands (both SP3 and SP4 are within the Lake Simcoe watershed). Greenhouse roof water is not collected and goes to SP1 via downspouts and open swales.

The final receivers of the stormwater discharges are Lake Simcoe (via municipal drain) and Lake Ontario via the Black Creek-Humber River sub-watershed.
