This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. A-500-6097234137 for Nova Chemicals Corporation, operating a polyethylene manufacturing facility in the Township of St. Clair, Sarnia, Ontario, which is referred to as the St. Clair River Site Polyethylene Facility.

The amendment includes an increase in the maximum production rate from the currently permitted 40 tonnes per hour of polyethylene to 45 tonnes per hour of polyethylene.

Contaminants discharged from the facility include:

  • hydrocarbons such as ethylene and cyclohexane
  • by-products of combustion such as nitrogen oxides
  • particulate matter
