This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 5542-AYKJ4H for Canadian Babbitt Bearings Ltd., a ferrous and non-ferrous foundry that specializes in manufacturing castings, located in the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

  • metal alloy melting and casting
  • core and mold making
  • cast part finishing and welding
  • cooling towers
  • baghouses
  • combustion equipment

The amendment includes the addition of a heat treat furnace and an updated noise abatement action plan. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

  • chromium

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
