This proposal is to amend the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air) No.1708-7K7LLC which replaces all the current Environmental Compliance Approvals for Air at this facility and will include the addition of new or historically unapproved sources for all emissions from Project Nikolas Company Inc., a nickel-copper underground mine, located in the City of Sudbury, Ontario.
The application includes all sources at the facility, including the mine fleet, drilling, blasting, and other ore handling operations; as well as, any other equipment and ancillary and support processes and activities.
Emissions to the atmosphere from this facility include:
- total suspended particulates (TSP)
- carbon monoxide
- nitrogen oxides
- lead
- hexavalent chromium
- mercury, and
- nickel
The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
