This proposal is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site) No. A100101 for the Mohawk Street Landfill Transfer Station located at 20 Morrison Road in the City of Brantford.
The amendment seeks approval for the acceptance and temporary storage of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste to replace the discontinued Blue Box recycling operations following the provincial transition to producer responsibility. The existing 480 square metres (m²) transfer station building includes two designated bays with maximum storage capacities of 56 tonnes for Source-Separated Organics (SSO) and 145 tonnes for C&D waste.
The amendment also includes permission for the temporary indoor storage of mattresses and box springs within the proposed C&D storage area. This supplemental storage will occur within the facility’s currently approved maximum onsite capacity and does not require changes to the building, site layout, or infrastructure.
The hours of operations of the facility are Monday to Saturday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The site is open all statutory holidays except Christmas and New Years.
