Bulletin details
Starting March 18, 2026, the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) will begin using Public Secure / My Ontario Account for logging in.
This change will give users a more secure and consistent experience across Ontario government services.
Please note that to implement this change, the ERO site will be unavailable for all users on March 18 from 5:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. During this time, the ERO webpage will display a maintenance message.
For existing ERO account holders
What’s changing
On March 17, all registered ERO users will receive an email with details about this change.
We will use your existing ERO email account to automatically create your new My Ontario Account.
The email you receive will include:
- What to expect during the transition
- Instructions for accessing your My Ontario Account
- How to log in to the ERO with your My Ontario Account
- Your existing ERO information including your profile, followed notices, comment history, and preferences will remain unchanged.
For members of the public who do not have an ERO account
If you are new to the ERO or have never created an account:
- You will need a My Ontario Account to log in to the ERO.
- If you already have a My Ontario Account, you may log in directly or access the ERO from the Apps section of your My Ontario Account.
- If you do not have a My Ontario Account, please click the ‘Create Account’ link in the My Ontario Account sign in page
All existing ERO features will continue to work as they do today.
Anonymous access
You may continue to browse the ERO and submit comments anonymously if you prefer not to use a My Ontario Account.
Privacy
Only your email address is used with the ERO to enable login. No additional personal information is collected or shared.
