Proposal details

This proposal is for an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site) number 6535-DJPQ46 for a non-hazardous materials processing facility.

This facility is on a 4.7 hectare property located in the City of Kingston, Ontario. The facility will receive, sort, and process non-hazardous materials containing magnets for the purpose of material recovery; all processing of materials will be undertaken indoors within the facility. Wastes generated from the processing of materials will be stored indoors at the facility in designated containers/areas and removed from the site by licenced haulers. The purpose of this amendment application is for proposed changes in the storage of process wastewater at the facility; additional indoor storage vessels are required to serve proposed operations.

The maximum quantity of waste delivered to the site on any given day is 640 tonnes, and 24,000 tonnes annually. Material receiving and shipping will take place at the facility between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Internal operations at the facility, including loading of trucks, may occur 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The facility will receive materials from Europe, Asia and North America.
