Paradise Retreat - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval to construct a new septic system located at 3355 Golf Club Road, in the City of Hamilton, Ontario.

The development area is situated on the southern portion of the site and will include a two-storey, 782 square metres building with guest accommodations, retreat spaces, offices and a central dining area. The facility will be serviced by a drilled well and a new onsite sewage system.

Two existing drilled wells currently supply water to the farm and marketplace, while existing sewage system include a Level 4 treatment system with a shallow buried trench leaching bed and a conventional filter bed system for a farmhouse. The new sewage works is rated for 7,100 litres per day consisting of a Waterloo Biofilter advanced treatment system, discharging to a Type A dispersal bed.

The existing sewage works on site includes a system rated for 1,842 litres per day, consisting of a Norweco advanced treatment system, discharging to a shallow buried trench leaching bed, and another system rated for 4,950 litres per day consisting of a septic tank discharging to a filter bed. The combined total daily design sanitary sewage flow for the property is 13,892 litres per day.
