Proposal details
This proposal is to consolidate Environmental Compliance Approval (air) No. 9140-8Y4PM9 and 8-4010-80-006, issued to The Cataraqui Cemetery Company, a cremation facility operator, located at 927 Purdy’s Mill Road, Kingston, Ontario.
This application also includes updates to the facility's equipment which consist of: the decommissioning of the existing cremation unit and installation of one new cremation unit within a new dedicated building, replacing aging infrastructure with modern, environmentally compliant, and upgraded technology.
The proposed installation represents a one-for-one replacement of existing cremation capacity and does not introduce additional cremation units or expand operational capacity. The cremation unit being replaced and the new unit will never be operated concurrently.
Contaminant emissions to the atmosphere include:
- by-products of combustion such as nitrogen oxides,
- metals such as chromium (VI),
- particulate matter, and
- dioxins and furans
