Silver Lake Ontario Inc. is proposing to develop a new south tailings management facility (STMF) at the company’s Sugar Zone Mine.

Closure plan amendments are not required to posted as a decision.

Bulletin details

The South Tailings Management Facility (STMF) is a planned new tailings storage area to support the Sugar Zone Mine and is designed for a capacity of about 1.3 million tonnes of slurry tailings and 306,000 m³ of water.  The STMF will be enclosed by natural terrain on three sides and a dam to the north.  Surface water in the watershed, will be diverted around the site, collected, treated, and discharged to Gagegenha Lake.
