Proposal details
The new City of Kitchener Official Plan proposes to replace portions of the 1994 City of Kitchener Official Plan, and portions of the current in-effect 2014 City of Kitchener Official Plan. It also proposes to replace the Regional Municipality of Waterloo Official Plan, as it pertains to the City of Kitchener.
The purpose of the new Official Plan is to establish a long-term vision, values, objectives, and policies that will guide growth and development to the 2051 planning horizon. The new Official Plan updates the City of Kitchener’s land use framework, including updates to land use policies and schedules. The new Official Plan will also ensure consistency with the Provincial Planning Statement, 2024 (PPS).
If approved, the new City of Kitchener Official Plan would apply to all lands within the City of Kitchener, with the exception of lands identified as deferred.
