Bulletin details
The Renewable Energy Approval (REA) No. 5211-CM3MB6 for the Petawawa Net Zero Project has been amended to authorize the implementation of spill containment, stormwater management and groundwater monitoring infrastructure at the facility.
The amendment permits the construction of dual-purpose spill containment and stormwater management pond and the installation of an additional groundwater monitoring well.
The ministry has reviewed and approved the Secondary Containment Plan, Stormwater Management Plan, and Groundwater Monitoring Plan submitted with the application.
The ministry categorized this amendment as a technical change that will not result in increased negative environmental effects beyond those identified, documented and consulted on during the REA process for the original Project.
The implementation of the approved Secondary Spill Containment, the Stormwater Management and Groundwater Monitoring plans enhance environmental protection and spill management on site and satisfy Spill Containment Condition I23 of the REA to enable the facility to begin receiving and storing off-site organic waste.
This Class 3 anaerobic digestion facility is located at the Town of Petawawa Water Pollution Control Plant, 560 Abbie Lane, in the Town of Petawawa, County of Renfrew.
