Proposal details

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is considering the issuance of a type “K” other wood fibre product forest resource processing facility licence to authorize the construction and operation of a forest resource processing facility.

Under Ontario Regulation 167/95 of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act, a Type K licence is issued to any Other Wood Fibre Products Facility (i.e., a facility producing a product not covered under licence types A to I) with the capacity to consume more than 5,000 cubic metres per year.

Other information

RH Timber Inc. has submitted a proposal to establish and operate a pole peeling facility.

The proponent is proposing to consume forest resources originating primarily from the Nipissing Forest, Northshore Forest, Spanish Forest and Sudbury Forest.  Harvesting of Crown forest resources will be conducted in accordance with the approved applicable Forest Management Plans.

The pole peeling facility will include a log debarker and log drying area and is expected to consume approximately 12,000 cubic metres of red pine pole quality fibre per year.  The operation will focus on peeling and drying the logs for use as utility poles for the energy and telecommunications sectors.
