The ministry has issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval (industrial sewage) to Cambridge IP Park GP Inc., for the establishment of sewage works, in support of proposed industrial buildings and parking areas; for the stormwater management works from a private site located at 105 Allendale Road, City of Cambridge, Ontario.

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-21-000269R to Epica Gold Inc. for early exploration activities.

The decision is to issue the mineral exploration permit.

The government brought into force a regulation under the Planning Act that authorizes landowners to stipulate that pay-on-demand surety bonds are to be used to secure municipal obligations that are conditions of land-use planning approvals. A wider acceptance of pay-on-demand surety bonds may help homebuilders to free up funds for housing projects.

The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 212 which introduces the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. This new Act provides a consistent approach to the oversight of the installation of bike lanes, where a lane of traffic is removed.

The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 212 which introduces the new Building Highways Faster Act, 2024, an initiative under the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. This new Act will accelerate highway construction for designated priority projects to support the movement of goods and people across Ontario.

Ontario has made amendments to Ontario Regulation 406/19 to change the in-effect date of a provision to restrict landfilling of cleaner excess soil, from January 1, 2025, to January 1, 2027. We have also made clarifications to existing exemptions from this restriction. Other proposals remain under consideration.

An amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 5302-9FSLR5 to renew Limited Operational Flexibility has been granted to Stelco Inc., a cold rolled steel pickling facility located in Nanticoke, Ontario.

Pursuant to Section 54 of the Planning Act, provisional consent for a severance of a shoreline allowance and consolidation of both the severed and retained portions to two adjacent lots was granted on December 17, 2024, subject to conditions.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on December 17, 2024 in respect of Application 58-C-243893 for a lot addition on lands described as PINs 62465-0041 and 62465-0040 on Mazokaman Bay, Lake Superior, Patience Township, District of Thunder Bay. The last day this decision can be appealed is January 6, 2025.

The last day this decision can be appealed is January 6, 2025. 

The Ministry of Energy and Electrification has taken actions to facilitate the development of a critical electricity transmission project to support economic growth and electrification initiatives in northeastern Ontario while advancing a shared goal of reconciliation by providing economic and partnership opportunities for Indigenous communities.

Permit to Take Water No. P-300-1306194478 was issued to Alamos Gold Inc. on December 13, 2024 to amend Permit to Take Water No. Alamos Gold Inc. for mining purposes. Water will be taken from two wells at the Island Gold Mine site, located in Dubreuilville, Ontario for 3 years.

The application is for renewal of Permit to Take Water No. 6142-9L7L6N for manufacturing/dewatering purposes. This application has been cancelled on December 13, 2024.

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-24-000146 to BEN NEVIS RESOURCES INC. for early exploration activities.

The decision is to issue the mineral exploration permit.
