We have expanded the boundaries of 26 protected areas (13 provincial parks and 13 conservation reserves) and created 12 new protected areas ( 2 provincial parks and 10 conservation reserves). These changes provide increased opportunities for recreational activities and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Ontario’s natural heritage.
Ontario Parks has amended the John E. Pearce Provincial Park Management Plan. These changes ensure the plan remains consistent with the park’s Nature Reserve classification and strengthens the protection of its natural and cultural heritage values.
We have approved the Bigwind Lake Provincial Park Management Plan. The management plan will guide the protection and management of the park for the next 20 years or more.
