We have issued an Environmental Compliance Approval No. 0420-CAZSGA to The Glens (Wilberforce) Limited, for the on-site sewage treatment system servicing a seasonal campground including a seasonal residence (4-bedroom dwelling), two cabins (2-bedroom dwellings) and 85 campsites at the Municipality of Highlands East.

Approval has been granted for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (Sewage) to service Rhino's Roadhouse Restaurant for a sewage system located at 5078 Rice Lake Drive North, Bewdley, Township of Hamilton, County of Northumberland, Ontario.

The government has released A Place to Grow, which replaces the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. It introduces more flexibility to planning and greater local autonomy. It addresses barriers to building homes, creating jobs, attracting investments and putting in place the right infrastructure while protecting the environment.

The Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI) will be proposing a new Statement of Environmental Values (SEV) in order to reflect the changes in its structure and mandate, as well as to acknowledge the priority of addressing climate change. Given the changes, this proposal is no longer being considered.

Amended the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998, to provide government with authority to ensure fair and informed decision-making at the OEB including broadening participation in hearings, providing authority to make certain directives, temporarily reinstating the status quo 40-year revenue horizon, and streamlining certain leave to construct processes.

Ontario has expanded the definition of “hazard” in the Animal Health Act, 2009 (AHA) through a regulation.

Ontario is updating the appendices in O. Reg. 277/12 containing lists of Immediately Notifiable Hazards and Periodically Notifiable Hazards.

We are proceeding with public consultation on a regulatory proposal for the 13 invasive species and watercraft as a carrier of invasive species under the Invasive Species Act, 2015, included in this posting.

A decision was made to approve a site-specific amendment to remove certain lands in the Town of Oakville from the Parkway Belt West Plan (PBWP) and the associated Minister's Zoning Order (MZO), filed as Ontario Regulation 481/73. 

The PBWP amendment is approved as amendment No. 247 and the MZO amendment is filed as Ontario Regulation 48/26.

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry have amended Ontario Regulation 826 under the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act to add the Pleasant View Survey lands to the area of development control.

We amended O. Reg 334 under the Environmental Assessment Act to reflect the updated responsibility for government realty.

On July 1, 2019, amendments to O. Reg. 509/18 made under the Electricity Act, 1998 came into force. These amendments further harmonize requirements for six products with Canadian and U.S. standards, and make editorial changes to keep the regulation up-to-date.

The Natural Gas Policy Statement (NGPS) was released as part of the Integrated Energy Plan (IEP) entitled Energy for Generations: Ontario’s Integrated Plan to Power the Strongest Economy in the G7. The NGPS is Chapter 5 of the IEP and provides a clear direction on the role of natural gas in Ontario’s future energy system.

We have finalized changes to thresholds for thermal treatment facilities that determine the environmental assessment requirements for advanced recycling. These thresholds have been incorporated in Ontario Regulation 101/07: Waste Management Projects made under the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA).

We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 4723-CWQM65 on November 6, 2023, which cancels and replaces permit No. 3480-AQ5Q7R, for Findlay Creek Properties (North) Ltd. and Tartan Homes (North Leitrim) Inc. and Tartan Land (North Leitrim) Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario for construction purposes. The new permit expires on August 31, 2027.

An aggregate licence was issued to Dufferin Aggregates to make changes to the conditions of their licence to operate the Flamboro Quarry.  The annual tonnage is 3.5 million tonnes and the licenced site operates in Township of West Flamborough, City of Hamilton.

We have made updates to the Registration Guidance Manual for Generators of Liquid Industrial and Hazardous Waste (guidance manual), to support the regulated community in complying with hazardous waste management rules and requirements. The updates align with regulatory changes that take effect January 1, 2023.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines has taken actions to facilitate the development of a critical transmission project to alleviate bottlenecks in the electricity system and support economic growth and electrification, while advancing a shared goal of reconciliation and providing economic and partnership opportunities for Indigenous communities.
