The Green Energy Repeal Act repealed the Green Energy Act and amended other Acts to re-introduce conservation and energy efficiency initiatives, restore municipal authority over siting renewable energy projects, and create the authority to prohibit issuance of Renewable Energy Approvals, including where demand for electricity is not demonstrated.

The minister has issued a social or economic benefit permit to NextStar Energy Inc. and the Corporation of the City of Windsor for impacts to Butler’s Gartersnake, a species at risk. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects on the species and its habitat and actions to support the protection and recovery of the species.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to The Regional Municipality of Durham for construction work that will adversely impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, and monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to LTM Land Corp. and three individuals for construction activities that will impact Least Bittern, which is a species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects and requires monitoring and reporting.

Application 60-C-246569, to create a new 1.56 hectare waterfront lot to be used for resource-based recreational use, was approved as redlined by the Ministry, subject to conditions. Related applications 60-C-232065 (ERO 019-9227) and 60-C-246449 (ERO 019-9248) were also approved subject to conditions. 

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit to The City of Richmond Hill to improve the Beaver Creek Stormwater Management Facility. This activity may adversely impact all four species at risk bats. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects.

The ministry has issued a new ECA for the establishment of stormwater management works and wastewater infrastructure works located in the City of Brampton, to provide enhanced level water quality protection and erosion control, and to attenuate post-development peak flows to allowable peak flows, discharging to a tributary of Huttonville Creek.

The Minister has issued a socio-economic benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to Metrolinx in relation to the Yonge North Subway extension, which may adversely impact species at risk. The permit includes actions to mitigate impacts and outlines key requirements for the protection of species at risk.

The minister has issued an overall benefit permit to the Regional Municipality of Halton for construction activities which will impact Silver Shiner, a species at risk fish. The permit includes actions to provide an overall benefit to the species and minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

The minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 for a residential home development that may adversely impact Dwarf Hackberry and Eastern Hog-nosed Snake, which are species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Minister has issued a permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to the Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. for pipeline construction activities that may adversely impact Caribou (boreal population). The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, and monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to Fleur de Cap Development Inc. for a development which may impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects and benefit the species, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to North Pickering Community Management Inc. for road construction work which may impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects and benefit the species, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Minister has issued an amendment to an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to 2434233 Ontario Ltd. to authorize impacts to Willowleaf Aster individuals and to update mitigation and overall benefit requirements concerning Willowleaf Aster, Butler’s Gartersnake and Eastern Foxsnake.
