Reg. 153/04 (Records of Site Condition) to allow qualified engineers and geoscientists to exercise professional judgment, in limited circumstances, to determine the need for ground water sampling prior to redeveloping on former commercial or industrial lands, also known as brownfields.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent for a lot addition to rectify an access issue was granted on May 22, 2024, subject to conditions.
The Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024, has amended the Development Charges Act, 1997 to: repeal the phase-in of development charges (DCs); reinstate studies as an eligible cost for DCs; reduce the DC freeze period; streamline the process for extending existing DC by-laws; and create a transition rule for the City of Ottawa.
We are proposing to extend the expiry date for Environmental Assessment Act approvals by 10 years for certain projects once the relevant amendments to the Act come into effect. This extension will allow the projects to proceed (subject to any other permits and approvals required) instead of requiring a new environmental assessment to be completed.
