We have introduced legislative and regulatory changes to enable the IESO to launch a clean energy credit (CEC) registry to track the transfer and retirement of voluntarily purchased CECs generated from Ontario’s clean electricity supply. Ontario has finalized changes to O. Reg. 153/04 (Records of Site Condition) to allow qualified engineers and geoscientists to exercise professional judgment, in limited circumstances, to determine the need for ground water sampling prior to redeveloping on former commercial or industrial lands, also known as brownfields.
We have made administrative amendments to O. Reg 390/18 in response to the challenges industry is facing during the COVID-19 outbreak, such as staffing shortages. The changes provide temporary relief by allowing for extensions to the 2019 greenhouse gas emissions reporting and verification deadlines.
The Ministry has accepted the risk assessment prepared for the owner, UCANCO General Partners Inc., as part of the development plans for the property located at 609 West Street South in Orillia, Ontario. The Director is considering issuing a Certificate of Property Use ("CPU") in relation to the property.
