The Ministry is proposing to issue a permit to The Quaternary Mining & Exploration Company Limited (“the proponent”) to undertake early exploration activities.
We made changes to the Environmental Assessment Act through Bill 108, More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019. These changes help the ministry to modernize by focusing on projects that pose actual, real risks to our environment and communities.
On August 16, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Minister's Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 327/24 in the City of Vaughan. The City of Vaughan requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.

The Building Better Communities and Conserving Watersheds Act, 2017, was passed on December 12, 2017. Once in force, it will give communities a stronger voice in land use planning and replace the Ontario Municipal Board with the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.

Regulatory and policy changes under the Conservation Authorities Act were finalized to improve conservation authority governance, oversight, transparency, and accountability. They provide the flexibility needed to effectively develop budgets to deliver programs and services and were developed with the Conservation Authorities Working Group.
The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 5: Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025, which makes amendments to the current Endangered Species Act, 2007 and enacts the Species Conservation Act, 2025 (to come into force on a future date).
Amendments were made to O. Reg. 267/03 under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 to remove the five-year expiry of the Agricultural Operation Planning certificate. Housekeeping amendments to the Regulation and Protocol were also made to add clarity. No changes were made to the proposal as a result of consultation.
