A decision was made on February 8, 2024, to approve, with modifications, the new Town of Prescott Official Plan, as adopted by By-law number 37-2022. The approved new Town of Prescott Official Plan outlines a comprehensive framework of new and revised policies to guide growth and development to 2041.

The government has released A Place to Grow which replaces the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. Changes to O. Reg. 525/97 ensure the Minister’s approval is required for official plan amendments that implement provincial mapping for the Agricultural System for the Greater Golden Horseshoe and Natural Heritage System for the Plan.
We are proposing to extend the expiry date for Environmental Assessment Act approvals by 10 years for certain projects once the relevant amendments to the Act come into effect. This extension will allow the projects to proceed (subject to any other permits and approvals required) instead of requiring a new environmental assessment to be completed.
