RE: Opposition to Proposed Residential Development in Our Neighbourhood
I am writing on behalf of the Muslim community at 65 Rexdale Boulevard Mosque to express our deep concerns and opposition to the proposed residential development in our neighbourhood. We believe that the construction of residential buildings in this area is detrimental to the community, and we urge the City of Toronto to reconsider and reject this proposal.
The mosque at 65 Rexdale Boulevard was established by the community, for the community. It serves as a place of worship, cultural enrichment, and social cohesion for local residents, and its purpose cannot be compromised. The proposed development not only threatens to disrupt the character of our neighbourhood but also raises concerns about exploitation and targeting of our community’s interests. We feel that this project is not in line with the needs and values of the residents who have long made this area their home.
As a group of more than five regular worshippers, we are united in our stance that the neighbourhood should remain as it is, maintaining the environment and the sanctity of the mosque and its surrounding areas. The construction of new residential buildings could lead to significant changes that negatively impact our community's way of life.
We kindly request that the City of Toronto takes our concerns seriously and refrains from proceeding with this development. We trust that the city will consider the voices of the local community and make decisions that align with our well-being and the preservation of the neighbourhood's integrity.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your response and a resolution that respects the interests of our community.
Sincerely, Community member
65 Rexdale Boulevard IMO Mosque.
