I am a professional engineer, practising in the province of Ontario and currently sit as chair of the Ontario Natural Building Coalition (http://www.naturalbuildingcoalition.ca/). Our members are working directly to reduce carbon emissions from the housing sector - in fact, many of our builders are actively sequestering atmospheric carbon during construction by using agricultural wastes and by-products such as straw and hemp hurd for insulation.
The cap and trade program here in Ontario gives hope and a real mechanism for carbon accounting to actually have an effect on our economy, and to steer Ontario towards a sustainable built environment, energy and transportation sector.
Cancelling the cap and trade act is a terrible idea. Please do not go through with this proposed legislation.
