Good morning,
Please find attached a letter outlining the Municipality of Middlesex Centre Council's response to ERO 019-9065, endorsed by Council at its meeting on October 2, 2024. I would like to emphasize how important this transition regulation would be for our municipality. As detailed in the letter, our Comprehensive Review process and resulting Official Plan Amendment #59 were developed under the previous Provincial Policy Statement 2020. The introduction of the 2024 PPS poses a significant complication to this lengthy appeal process which is only serving to delay important policy and zoning updates, and use the very limited municipal resources and staff time on legal fees, which could be spent processing development applications and updating our policies to align with the new PPS.
I would also like to emphasize the importance of the timely release of this proposed Regulation. Municipalities are facing significant pressures particularly with the change in settlement area boundary policies within the 2024 PPS, and this Regulation would assist us in focusing our limited resources on implementing these new policies.
Thank you for your consideration,
Stephanie Bergman, RPP, MCIP
Manager of Planning and Development
Municipality of Middlesex Centre
