Infrastructure Ontario has at times conveyed to members of our 29 Resident Associations across downtown Toronto some of its intentions regarding infrastructure and community benefits for TOCs along the Ontario Line. Our organization believes that registration of agreements regarding TOC projects would improve public transparency regarding these plans and increase the likelihood of vital infrastructure and community facilities being delivered in future. Without municipally enforceable agreements, housing projects built around transit risk being simply transit oriented development that burden neighbourhoods rather than contributing to beneficial Complete Communities.
We support the proposed regulation enabling Registration of Agreements Regarding Transit-Oriented Community Projects. We believe that a stronger regulation that would not just enable, but require registration of these agreements would help encourage accountabilities in the development of complete communities around transit-oriented developments along the Ontario Line in downtown Toronto.
