I agree with the Green Party that Bill 4 "fails to match the urgency of the climate crisis and represents a major step backward in the fight against climate change."
I also agree with the Greens that it is "unfair and unreasonable to eliminate the province’s only climate plan without being transparent with the public about the plan to replace it". I deliberately looked at your website to check the exact wording of the bill, hoping to find out what the changes would entail, and found it very hard to follow. Is this, in fact, obscurantism?
A grandmother of three young children who deserve a healthy and safe future, and the mother of a scientist who is currently working with European teams to measure the effects of climate change on the air and oceans (my daughter is a metrologist), I hope very sincerely that Ontario (for example) will think again, and more carefully, about the serious measures we need to take to limit damage from man-made emissions, and let us know, in terms that everyone can understand, what those measures will be. If taxes need to be increased, so be it; for the sake of what is at stake, I for one would be willing to put up with this.
