The Environmental Assessment Act exists for a reason - to protect nature, farmlands, wildlife and the systems that support human life. Proposing to exempt a massive highway - one that is not necessary in the first place - from the Environmental Assessment Act is an egregious action against current and future generations. The EA process is necessary to ensure that such projects do not harm nature and the systems on which humans depend now and in the future. To use taxpayer dollars for such a project, and then not even abide by the essential processes that all Ontario's have agreed is necessary for such a project, is an affront to Ontarians as voters, taxpayers, residents on this land, and on moral grounds.
