Repealing this Act is destructive and sets back Ontario's climate policy significantly. Carbon taxes, cap and trade are both effective ways to curb carbon dioxide release and are an important part of reducing climate change and its impacts.

Our world in general is losing its chance to keep warming below the 1.5-2C range considered safe by various organizations including the IPCC, UN, etc. Repealing this bill sets the world on a continuing course of warming and ultimate major social and economic consequences that will hit us, our children, and the poorest among us hardest.

It is irresponsible in light of such scientific evidence to repeal this bill as the potential short term economic benefits will be far outweighed by longer term economic, social, and environmental disaster resulting in species loss, increased illness and death in humans, and increased damage from heat and storms.

Repeal of this bill is irresponsible and mediated only by short term political gain and ideology and not informed by evidence.
