Hello,
Cap and trade isn't perfect, but no system is. I don't think it is reasonable or wise for our government to cancel a system without yet having a plan for the new system to replace it. Of course, I suspect that plan is to have no plan, but that's beside the point.
In general, it is clear that we- individually, provincially, federally, and internationally, need to address climate change. Regardless of the relative impact of Ontario, our per capita impact is exceedingly high. We should aggressive seek to change that by any means necessary.
Beyond this, it is interesting to me that Section 10 seems to attempt to say that no action may be brought against the Crown because this Bill says so. My limited understanding of civil law suggests that an action may be brought against the Crown by any party that is damaged by this legislation. But, hey, I'm not a lawyer...
So, to be perfectly clear- my position is that this Bill is reactionary, ill-advised, and poorly thought out. Please keep cap and trade until there is a plan to replace it with something better. Preferably, something even more aggressive in relation to actually meeting CO2 targets.
