The repealing of the cap and trade system is both wasteful, and ignorant. Anthropogenic climate change has been well established by a litany of scientific studies, and something needs to be done about it. The free market is not going to handle it. Businesses will not do anything about it. Why? Because that's not their job. They are not guardians of people; they do not care about the best interests of their customers. Businesses exist for the creation and movement of wealth. This is a simple economic concept. That's why it's on government - whose very job it is to look out for the best interests of the people who elected it - to do something about climate change, and very specifically, to deal with the major causes therein through some method of reduction. As mentioned: businesses are focused on money. So a cap and trade system - which turns climate change into a financial incentive - works as an effective means of meeting the targets needed to prevent significant ecological problems. It's good business sense, it's good long-term planning, and it's good for the people.

I mean, Nova Scotia is ahead of us on climate policy. What the hell?
