I am deeply opposed to the new act to cancel the existing climate change act. While it stipulates that the government must come up with a plan, it does not stipulates that the plan should do better than the previous plan. In fact there is potential to do much less. Without a new plan presented it is irresponsible for MPPs to vote to repeal legislation when the alternative is not yet available for comment and consideration. The most recent IPCC report strongly cautions against just this type of decision making that will have implications for not just Ontarians but people all over the world. The time to act is now. Vote no to this bill and work hard to write a new bill in the future that goes even higher. We all need to pay for carbon and more than we are now.
