I have grave concerns about this proposal to fast track the building of another highway through a critical greenbelt north of Toronto. The priority to build highways faster needs to shift to improve public transportation options - trains, buses, bike lanes, car shares, not building more highways. The Environmental Assessment Act is in place for a reason and to bypass it does not make sense. I see that MTO has a proposed responsibility to prepare a consulting plan and to consult with Indigenous communities and publish an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR). I am concerned that these reports will come too late after the land has already been damaged and lost by the proposed highway. Please reconsider this proposal.
