Bill 4 should not be passed. The Cap and Trade program was holding the big industries responsible for the emissions that they are creating and the resultant climate change. If we do away with this program, the government is essentially helping the wrong-doers go scot-free and not be accountable for their actions. And, the huge consequence of this action is that we have more global warming and even higher incidences of extreme weather conditions, such as floods, extreme heat, tornadoes, droughts, and fires. All these conditions, in turn, affect our health and mental well-being, our living conditions, our food, and pollute the basic air that we breathe. While the carbon tax increased gas prices, think about the enormous expenses after flooding, tornadoes, etc. It has been seen in the UK that after carbon tax was introduced, the industries made an effort to become more energy efficient and took steps to become non-polluters. The program in Ontario was started only 2 years back, the effects take some time to be apparent.
