To my eye, this looks like disastrous, short-term thinking. The province – and the world – need strong leadership to do the right things for the future, so that we and our children and grandchildren have a future to look forward to.
I will gladly pay more to do more to fight against CO2 emissions and climate change. Counting dollars and cents while we're plunging off a cliff is insane. (Not to mention that we'll be losing the side benefits of cleaner air and water, etc.)
I also feel that Ontario is missing an opportunity to be a leader in green tech. This is very disheartening. What happened to our forward-thinking province? What happened to a government that would listen to scientists?
While Ontario's new government has many accomplishments that it can rightly be proud of, this is an own-goal of epic proportions. Proud Ontarian though I may be, I'm afraid I'll have to back the federal government all the way on this file and hope that they can convince or force our province to abandon this shameful, short-sighted act of lunacy.
