The ending of the Cap and Trade Program which funded the EHVIP program has had a major financial impact on my family. Just prior to the election, our representative advised us to purchase the electrical car we were considering as Premier Ford (if elected) would shut down the program. However, he would be taking a phased out approach. So that is just what we did – ordered it!
Not only did Premier Ford ended the program abruptly, he made it difficult for people to get there refunds by removing the forms off the internet at the same time!

I am seeking your support for the following:

1- Review the list of eligible vehicle to include All-Wheel-Drive models and newer models that would have met the eligibility criteria prior to the cancellation of the program;
2- Honor all contract purchases that were made before the July 11th shutdown;
3- Allow those vehicles purchased before July 11th to submit their rebate claim up to a year i.e. July 11th, 2019 (to allow receiving and plating the vehicle);
4- Upload the rebate forms online;
5- Find new funding sources to continue both the EHVIP program and Green Ontario Fund.

We ordered our electric vehicle before the government even took power and before the cancellation of the EHVIP was announced so we expected our contract to honoured and be able to submit our rebate.

Electric cars are not going away. The Premier should realize the benefits of the program has other countries are talking aggressive approaches on the issue such has Norway. In Norway, 45% of all new cars sold are electric. Why would the people of Ontario not want less air pollution? There is lots of information on the internet about the benefits of electrical vehicles such as Tesla. One taxi company stated the cost of operating an electrical vehicle is significantly less than running a gasoline car. Imagine police officers saving thousands of dollars on gasoline each year!

Some of the ideals in this letter came from my children because they care about the environment. Let’s show them that we care and are listening.
