The IPCC have just released a new report predicting devastating social, economic and ecological outcomes resulting from Climate Change. This devastation is already evident in severe flooding, forest fires, droughts and increases in severe storms which are only predicted to increase in the next 30 years, as climate change accelerates. Climate change is not linear, it has potential to feedback on itself and every increase in carbon emissions today only feeds this dangerous problem that is and will be affecting generations of Ontarians, Canadians and other global citizens. By using short term solutions such as continuing to subsidize the fossil fuel industry rather than support the diversification of our energy economy through programs like the Cap and Trade Program, we are failing to plan for a viable future.
