I am greatly concerned that investment in the clean technology sector (jobs, job training, post-secondary programs) is not a top priority for the governing party who has promised economic improvement in Ontario. This does not signal younger people to invest in the skills, knowledge and perspective needed to pursue profitable and exciting career paths in the clean economy. There is a young generation eager for shared enthusiasm and guidance towards their collective economic contributions. Ontario should be proactive in setting up the next generation for global competitive success in their training paths by championing opportunities for growth in clean jobs today. Our young people need to be poised and ready to take the reigns of our economic future, not try to catch up to other countries who had the foresight to invest early in the clean economy as a priority. I ask Minister Philips to consider the urgency of a plan that is truly forward-thinking, not regressive, and unless Bill 4 can be amended to include a comprehensive strategy for investment in jobs and the clean economy, I believe it should be rejected.
