I live across the river in Sault Ste Marie Michigan. I always know when the wind is blowing out of the Northwest because I can smell the emissions from the Algoma Steel Plant. Often these emissions cause me to be congested and require allergy medication for temporary relief. During the summer I often have to close the windows of my home to prevent the emissions from being driven by wind into my home. Since I do not have air conditioning and rely on air flow to cool my home, this means I am often required to endure extreme temperatures to prevent breathing the emissions from Algoma Steel.
