As an Ontario resident I urge the government to reconsider its plans to repeal its cap and trade system. Climate change poses a real threat to prosperity of future generations. It's also a collective action problem that requires all jurisdictions to do their part in reducing carbon emissions. Putting a price on carbon is one of the most efficient methods of reducing carbon emissions. If the Ford government pulls the plug on the existing system, the responsibility falls on it to propose a credible alternative to reduce the province's emissions. To date, no such plans exist.
