Algoma Steel has been surpassing limits on four chemicals: benzene, benzo(a)pyrene, sulfur dioxide and particulate matter. Exceeding benzene levels is unacceptable, there's no safe level and that has been linked to hotspots for acute myeloid leukemia in the Sault Ste. Marie area. I have children and grandchildren living in Sault Ste. Marie. The air quality is sometimes very bad, my daughter’s car and deck is sometimes covered in particulate. Algoma steel has been getting privileges for emissions for years, it’s time for them to fix these issues. They have the money to payout outrageous bonuses to their top brass, time to start doing their environmental duty. 5 years is way too long for them to continue polluting the air
